Kollywood will go on a one-day token fast in support of Anna Hazare, who is fighting for the Jan Lok Pal, which will put an end to corruption. Anna is on an indefinite fast at the Ramlila Maidan in Delhi and in order to show their support the Tamil film industry will go on a one-day fast at the Film Chamber complex in Chennai.

This fast is being organized at the behest of the Producers’ Council. The Council’s Chairman SA Chandrasekar, Nadigar Sangam’s General Secretary Radha Ravi, director Cheran, Theatre Owners’ Association President Abhirami Ramanathan, Distributors’ Council Chairman Kalaipuli G Sekaran and several others are expected to participate in this fast.

The good news is here at last. After much delay and dillydallying, Kamal Haasan will start shooting for his magnum opus 'Viswaroopam' from today. Besides playing the lead role, he will wield the megaphone too.

As we reported already, Ansuhka has been roped in by Kamal to play the female lead. "However, it is unsure for Anushka to attend the shoot today, as she is busy with other commitments. Scenes on Kamal will be shot today," say sources.

"Kamal has decided to make Viswaroopam a grand venture in all aspects. It will be a rich movie in content, making and budget. The film will be simultanesouly made in Tamil, Telugu and Hind," sources in the know add.

"Anushka was very happy when she was approached by Kamal. Though her dates are full for the next few months, she made some adjustments considering the importance of the film," sources say, adding: "A grand set has been erected on the Old Mahabalipuram Road for the movie."

The first look of 'Karikalan', one of the forthcoming films of Chiyaan Vikram, is finally out when the makers of the period movie came out with advertisements in leading newspapers on Sunday morning.

When we probed unit sources to know more, they said, "The film is set in the backdrop of Chola era, which is considered as the golden period of Tamil Nadu. Vikram is playing a powerful king, who is ready to go to any extent for his people."

Written and directed by L I Kannan, 'Karikalan' is produced by S Parthi and S S Vasan on Silverline Film Factory banner. Shooting is taking progress on a fast track and some pivotal scenes on Vikram are currently being shot.

Besides 'Karikalan', Vikram is also shooting for 'Rajapattai', directed by Suseenthiran of 'Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu' and 'Azhagarsamiyin Kudhirai' fame. He is playing a gym instructor in the movie.

The audio launch of the the Tamil 3D filmAmbuli directed by Hari Shankar and Harish Narayanan took place at the Kamrajar Hall in Chennai.

One song and a trailer from the film were shown , while other songs were played out on stage.
Hari says the entire film was shot in 3D, and features all newcomers. Five young composers Satish, Sam, Mervin, Solomon and Shankar have composed the eight songs in the film.
However the Ambuli launch was hijacked by sex bomb Namitha who walked in dressed casually in black jeans and a blue top. She was the cynosure of all eyes and stole the thunder from other Kollywood celebrities like Cheran, Parthipen, Blaaze and Naresh Iyer.

Cheran in his speech was critical of Namitha’s attention grabbing antics like saying ‘Hi Machans’ to the audiences and also giving flying kisses!

Mankatha, directed by Venkat Prabhu and produced by Dhayanidhi Alagiri and Cloud Nine, is all set for release soon.

When shooting for Mankatha started in mid-2010 - as Ajith's 50th film - it was scheduled to release on his birthday, May 1, 2011. But it never happened.

Now, the latest we hear is that Venkat Prabhu and the others behind the project are going all out to get the film released on September 1.

This will enable them to cash in on the big Vinayaka Chathurthi-Ramzan weekend, which will ensure a fantastic opening for the film.

Let us hope that Venkat’s 'Mission Mankatha' succeeds.
